10th Footman James Autumn Restoration Show details announced
The great and good of the classic vehicle restoration world are gearing up for the 10th anniversary of a major restoration show, which takes place at the Royal Bath & West Showground on 6-7 November.
The 10th Footman James Autumn Restoration Show & Auction will feature up to 150 exhibitors with car clubs, restorers, suppliers and autojumble stalls together with an auction. Spread over four indoor arenas, it will offer visitors a packed weekend of live displays, expert advice, and all the motoring gadgets and spares they could dream of.
Visitors can also buy or sell a classic vehicle at an on-site auction, which is managed by leading classic vehicle auctioneer, Charterhouse.
Themed club stands are a speciality of the show, and Somerset Triumph Sports Six Club, winner of last year's ‘Best Stand', anticipates a very high level of entry this year.
"Visitors love the displays and so do we. They are so creative and make the show special," says Phil Kinsella, the club's area organiser from Somerset.
"The quality of last year's displays was extremely high, and we've heard that many other car clubs will be going all out to steal our crown. We are keeping this year's theme under wraps, but will certainly do our best to defend our title," he says.
KelvyneAm Baker, of Fiat 500 specialist Latifa Estates, says that the show always proves an eye-opener for many visitors.
"There are so many cowboys in restoration and maintenance out there, the average motorist doesn't know who to trust anymore," he says.
"But with so many professionals under one roof, any motorist can get free and useful independent advice that should help them steer clear of any pitfalls, regardless of their vehicle's age, make or model."
A 10th anniversary may be associated with tin or aluminium, but show organiser Nigel Stevens says the show will be pure gold for those looking to for advice, gadgets and spares to restore, or maintain, their vehicles over the Winter.
"Quite simply, our 10th anniversary show is all about helping people cut the cost of motoring," he says.
"Anyone who comes to our show will also see that restoration is far more than saving money alone. It actually makes for a fun, if not infuriating, hobby; and it gives you a feeling of pride and immense satisfaction that is hard to beat."
Paul Matthews, managing director of show sponsor Footman James, says: "We have supported the restoration show since its launch a decade ago, and have seen it grow into one of the key events in the classics industry calendar.
"The mix of live demonstrations, huge variety of stunning classics and array of trade stands makes it a must for thousands of classics enthusiasts and we are looking forward to meeting the many visitors who will flock through the doors over the weekend."
The 10th Footman James Autumn Restoration Show takes place at the Royal Bath & West Showground, Shepton Mallet, over 6-7 November. Doors are open from 10.00 to 4.30pm on both days. Tickets are available from £7. £8 on the day and car parking is free.
