Bristol Classic & Sports Car Services

...was established in Clevedon in 1991, and they provide a high quality in house restoration service facility for enthusiasts, investors and collectors. The team offer classic car owners everything from a service to a full restoration.

They undertake work on a wide range of cars. Current projects include a Messerschmitt and a 1953 Sunbeam Alpine sports, which they plan to display at the Footman James 31st Bristol Classic Car Show in May.

The term are also just finishing a Jaguar XK150 total restoration, and are in the early stages of restoring a 1956 Studebaker Golden Hawk.

Although the company was formed in 2002, Paul Gilmour started restoring cars as Bristol Classic and Reproduction cars in 1991. Early work included two C type Jaguar reproductions, and the team's love of Jaguars has endured. Favourites of the local enthusiasts club, the team has completed a lot of work on everything from pre-war SS cars through XKs, MKIIs and E types, up to the XJ6 and XJS models of the 70s and 80s.

Although they carry out a lot of work on XKs E types and Mk2s, they also deal with the later XJ models, and do a lot of bodywork repairs on all Jaguars.

In 2002, the company moved to larger premises, with a modern spray booth with low bake facility. The business expanded steadily until a major fire, caused by a neighbour's fireworks display, nearly ended the company. However, the skilled and dedicated workforce helped rebuild the business.

Since then, the company's order books have filled and they have expanded to sell a number of cars on commission each year. They also offer an advice and pre-purchase inspection for people looking to purchase a classic car.
